More for In The Name Of The Father: Music From The Motion Picture Soundtrack
Bono chose to collaborate with a woefully underappreciated Gavin Friday for the soundtrack to this Neil Jordan film, with stunning results. The title track and "Billy Boola" predate the electronic movement in the states by a few years, but manages to sound vital and contemporary by any standards. Herein are the seeds of what U2 would try to reap on their Pop album. The other important original work is Sinead O'Connor's "You Made Me the Thief of Your Heart," written by Bono and Friday. It is one of O'Connor's most satisfying deliveries, and benefits, as does "Billy Boola," from the incomparable Jah Wobble on bass. --Scott Wilson
